The Time is NOW!
If ever there was a time when the very essential role of the school library media specialist (SLMS) should be made known to legislators, administrators, teachers, parents, community members, and even library media specialists themselves, it is now! In many districts across Georgia media specialist positions are being threatened and it is imperative that we advocate for our programs based on evidence of strong media program impact on student achievement.
The Georgia School Library Media Consortium has prepared a document to be used as an advocacy statement that presents the true role of the SLMS in today's schools.
The goal is that the SLMS will be recognized as a major player in student achievement and the media program will receive strong support in schools across Georgia.
